And of Other Things is an independent bilingual online magazine documenting the blooming arts scene in Hanoi, Vietnam. I worked in the editorial team from August 2014 til July 2015 when I left for Melbourne. There was an interesting mix of both 'expats' and 'locals' in the team, which reflected the growing number of international artists and audience in Hanoi and brought multi-dimensional perspectives in our collaborative process.
Its founders are two wonderful women, Fabiola Buchele and Rose Arnold, from whom I learnt an incredible lot about taking the necessary step of asking uncomfortable questions, which Fabiola succinctly summed up as 'challenging the status quo of the mainstream narrative'. As an university freshman, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to interview many distinguished artists in Hanoi including film director Nguyễn Hoàng Điệp. |
