  Ha Dao
Picture

Ha Dao is a Vietnamese photographer whose works center around human relationships and survival, switching back and forth between being observational and self-referential. Her attempts to nudge the power structure between the onlooker and the represented have resulted in highly personal yet socially relevant work.

Ha has documented her own queerness in domestic settings, as well as service girls in Siem Reap, male wrestlers in Kolkata and ethnic minorities in Vietnam. In doing this, she examines the concepts that define the world and herself: gender, identity, changes in cultures and the environment.

Since early 2017, Ha has been coordinating Matca, a leading platform for sharing contemporary Vietnamese photographic works, interviews and discussions.
